Designed for a senior level course in advanced accounting, this text delivers a balanced and detailed approach to the conceptual and technical aspects of advanced accounting. Reflective of the current state of the international accounting landscape, this new edition discusses the upcoming globalization of accounting standards with frequent references to the FASB’s new Codification system and with a “compare and contrast” method for explaining the differences between U.S. GAAP and IFRS. In addition, Advanced Accounting includes comprehensive coverage of all three methods of consolidated financial reporting (cost, partial equity, complete equity). Authored with both the student and teacher in mind, margin icons and labels distinguish all three methods and other pedagogical features.

Great coverage of difficult material
|
| Review Date: September 7, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Big-hearted, Little Reader, Kentucky |
Having studied under another book on the same subject, I'm able to appreciate how well this book is written. It makes the seemingly impossible to understand not only doable but almost fun, by including plenty of illustrations in a straightforward format as well as real-life boxes on current events.
The Excel tutorials made learning even easier when I got stuck occasionally on a particularly difficult concept. |

Written in an informal colloquial style, this student-friendly Principles of Macroeconomics textbook does not sacrifice intellectual depth in its quest for accessibility. The author’s primary concern is to instill “economic sensibility” in the student. Colander emphasizes the intellectual and historical context to which the economic models are applied. Distinguishing features found within Colander’s text are: - Cutting Edge and Modern
- Colloquial Style Narrative
- Focus on Policy
- Emphasis on the Importance of Institutions and History
- Focus on Modeling: Economics is a method of reasoning, not truths.
- Presents Alternative Perspectives in Economics
